Thousands of people like you in workplaces locally are using payroll giving to support the work of Acorns, caring for local life-limited children and their families

What is payroll giving?

Payroll giving is a making a regular donation to Acorns directly from your salary. It is a hassle free way of supporting life-limited children and their families through regular support.

It is also tax free as the donation is made after National Insurance, but before tax. This way, instead of the tax being sent to the government, it is sent to Acorns. For example, as a standard rate taxpayer, if you pledge £5.00 from your gross salary each month (£1.25 per week) it will only cost you £4.00 but Acorns gets £5.00 thanks to the taxman not taking his share.

The increase in value is even greater if you pay tax at the higher rate.

 Payroll Giving Award 2007 logo

Acorns are taking part too!

Acorns have been given the Silver Award for payroll giving. If you take part in payroll giving, there are several levels of Quality Mark Awards that you could receive. These Awards reward employers for fostering a culture of committed giving in the workplace by actively promoting Payroll Giving. They symbolise excellence, recognising those employers that are making a difference together through Payroll Giving, benefiting good causes and employees alike.

Who can give?

Anyone can give if their pay or pension is taxed through PAYE. Your employer will need to be offering a Payroll Giving Scheme, which we can advise on setting up.

How do I sign up?

If your employer already has a Payroll Giving Scheme, just complete this form and send it to your Payroll Department. Remember that when you join the Payroll Giving Scheme every gift you make is tax free.

If your employer doesn’t have a scheme then information about payroll giving is at www.payrollgivingcentre.org.uk or contact Mike Tague at Acorns to find out more by email:  mike.tague@acorns.org.uk or call 01564 82 5000.

If you are an employer and would like to find out more about the benefits of setting up a scheme and how easy it is then contact Mike Tague to find out more on mike.tague@acorns.org.uk or call 01564 825065.
