Entrance to Acorns for the Three CountiesFacilities offered include access to bespoke activities, a range of complementary therapies, also a large multi-sensory room, play and activity area. It also includes up to date IT equipment, a hydrotherapy pool and extensive gardens.

We tailor a holistic package of care for each individual child that includes their medical and recreational needs. Our highly experienced team can cater for all children and families nutritional and dietary needs. We are always able to ensure a variety of food is available to suit all religious and dietary needs, such as vegan, vegetarian, halal, kosher and African Caribbean food.

The hospice care team consists of paediatric palliative care nurses, health care assistants and physiotherapists. The hospice has daily visits from local GPs and also access to the expertise of Acorns Medical Director who is a Paediatric Palliative Care Consultant.

The care and support offered by Acorns in the Three Counties is not just for the children but for the whole family.

Hydrotherapy pool at the hospice We are able to offer the following services:

  • Day Care – Children and families can access the facilities at the hospice for a bookable day visit
  • Planned short breaks – this enables families to have a planned break, e.g. a holiday, knowing their child will be well cared for in the hospice.
  • Family Splash – Children, young people and their families can book to use the hydrotherapy pool without having a day care or short break stay.
  • Emergency short break care – emergency short breaks can be available for medical and social needs.
  • End of Life Care – our highly skilled team of nurses and doctors offer palliative care including the management of symptoms and pain control while continuing to support the family.

The support of volunteers greatly enhances the service of the hospice. There are over 100 volunteers involved in a variety of tasks including housekeeping, reception, maintenance, gardening, supporting children and families at home via group work.  You can find out more about becoming a volunteer at an Acorns hospice here.
