Care volunteers

Could you help Acorns by volunteering at one of our hospices?

At Acorns, we have a number of volunteers working at our hospices in Selly Oak, Walsall and Worcester. They help on reception, with housekeeping, gardening and we have an occasional need for admin and clerical help.

All volunteers are interviewed and references and police checks are taken. Because of the nature of the work we do, it is important that volunteers are introduced carefully into working within the hospice environment.

Many people are attracted to working at the hospices to gain experience in working with children with disabilities and we offer relevant training in this field.

However, many volunteers simply wish to give their time and make a difference whether it's weeding the garden, housekeeping or laying the table at meal times, so no experience in this area is necessary.

We ask for a year's commitment but the time given within this year can be very flexible.
