Ever dreamed of driving your own team of spirited huskies across frozen wastelands – civilisation left far behind – well now you can!
Join us in spending six days sledding through rolling highlands and deep forest, into the heart of Lapland on an experience you will never forget, crossing the Swedish border, journeying through wild and untouched nature before arriving at the Ice Hotel in Jukkasjarvi.
Sleeping in native Sami tents, watching the Aurora Borealis and tending our dogs will help us gain a true feeling for living as the Laplanders do. A truly unforgettable experience!
Brief Itinerary:
This is an ‘Open’ trek where you will take part in a group with people raising money for various different charities.
Day 1 – Fly to Tromso Airport, Norway and transfer to Villmarkssenter where you will meet your team of Alaskan Huskies.
Day 2 – Transfer to Helligskogen then climb aboard your sled and race across the ice and snow towards the overnight camp in the forest.
Day 3 – Take a strenuous trail through Isdalen – an Ice Valley being rewarded by some of the most beautiful scenery on the Challenge.
Day 4 – Sled into Sweden and the homeland of the Sami, or reindeer people. Enjoy daylight until 9pm and the most amazing sunset.
Day 5 - Another testing day driving your sled through high mountains and forests, dodging the occasional reindeer!
Day 6 - Travel from Vosko to Voulus traversing lakes en route, a shorter day in preparation for the final hard push.
Day 7 - Push on to Kiruna and visit the Icehotel in Jukkasjarvi (small additional cost) where you will stop for about an hour before the transfer back to Tromso. In the evening re-live your dynamic and awe-inspiring expedition across the frozen wastes, at our presentation dinner.
Day 8 - Transfer to airport and return to UK.
