Demographics

Acorns is committed to ensuring equal access and quality care services for all children, Acorns Diversity event in 2006young people and their families.

We adapt our services and develop our resources in order to ensure we can achieve equal access to our services.

Accurately monitoring the changing demographics across the West Midlands is proving challenging. The last Census conducted by the Office for National Statistics was undertaken in 2001 which is dated and not reflective of today’s current demographic status.

Acorns does however record the ethnic origin of all staff, including volunteers and families.

In January 2010 Acorns was working with 762 clients, 336 (44%) identified as being white British, White or Caucasian. 24 (3%) did not identify with any category.

This leaves 402 (53%) families who identify with the remaining categories including British and English.
