Culture & values

Acorns values shown as icons. Listing: Caring, Committed, Trusted, Collaborative, Courageous and Curious

Everything we do is led by our values. As we live and breathe these values, we are all contributing to the achievement of our vision and mission. They form a key part of our identity and are even used as part of our performance and development reviews.

We truly appreciate the vital services that all of our employees and volunteers provide and demonstrate this through our Values Recognition Scheme. This Scheme rewards and highlights those who have gone above and beyond in their role in a way that links to our values. We nominate our colleagues so that we can celebrate exceptional actions throughout the year, having monthly and quarterly award winners which then leads to an annual awards celebration ceremony.

We encourage regular feedback and listen to what you have to say. We measure the temperature of each team, discuss the outputs, and take action to celebrate the great achievements, as well as addressing the areas that you tell us that we need to improve.

Career development

Our Acorns Academy is set to enhance your skills and capabilities for existing and future roles. We also have a talent development programme offering leadership, coaching, recruitment, and wellbeing programmes.

We have set learning journeys for role-specific development such as fundraising, clinical skills, and a range of professional qualifications for each area of the organisation.

Our leaders are committed to keeping your development alive and driving our progressive culture. It is our ambition for everybody to know how they contribute to delivering the organisational strategy and we do this through something called “My Career” where we agree objectives, support you to achieve them and measure/celebrate success.

Welcome day

You will join us and other new colleagues on your first day at our Welcome Event. It’s an immersive day, where you’ll get to meet a diverse range of people from across the organisation including users of our service, Acorns leaders and many departments who you will collaborate with throughout your career. This is your first step in getting to know Acorns and what it is that we do.
