Joerns Healthcare

Worcestershire based manufacturer of specialist patient handling equipment, Joerns Healthcare, signed a long term partnership agreement in July 2011 to support Acorns in a variety of ways.

Joerns Healthcare, part of a multinational operation with offices in the UK, USA, Canada and France, are best known for their Oxford branded range of patient lifts and support services for use in hospitals as well as home environments.

Having moved into brand new offices premises just outside the quaint riverside town of Pershore at the beginning of this year, Joerns Healthcare was keen to build relationships with the local community. One such way to do this was by providing support for a locally or regionally based charity. Marketing Manager Tom Bulpitt explains: “While making these kinds of choice are never Nathan McWattie - Managing Director of Joerns Healthcareeasy – there are so many worthwhile causes in the Worcestershire and Birmingham areas – when it came down to making the final decision we were all unanimous. It just had to be Acorns; we were all blown away when we visited the Worcester hospice and saw firsthand the incredible work they do with children and their families.”

Tom adds: “It is a real privilege for Joerns to be involved with this amazing organisation and the wonderful people who work for them. We just hope that with our specialist skills and knowledge of the healthcare and patient handling market we can contribute something and are able to make some small difference to lives of these children.”

As part of this partnership agreement Joerns Healthcare will support Acorns across a number of areas including:

• Donation of patient handling equipment
• Specialist manual handling training provided by clinical professionals
• Onsite voluntary work by members of Joerns staff
• Fundraising activities

This particular agreement marks a first for Acorns being the first time we have had a healthcare related partner on board. Joerns bring something quite different to the partnership – the provision of much needed patient equipment and the all-important training packages that go with it. There’s no doubt this is an exciting development for Acorns, one which we feel certain will flourish and grow larger still over the passage of time.
