Donations in Wills

Find out how you can help Acorns with a gift for the future.

For the last 21 years Acorns has cared for and supported thousands of children with life limiting and life threatening conditions, and their families, across the heart of England. We couldn't do this without your support.

We have to rely on our supporters, like you, to provide the majority of our funding through donations and fundraising, to make our work possible. A particularly important way that you can support Acorns work is through making a donation in your Will, also referred to as leaving a legacy. Without generous gifts made in this way, our ability to provide vital care services to the 500 children who we currently look after across the region would be compromised.

So, once you have cared for your loved ones in your Will perhaps you could think about including another family in your wishes - an Acorns family.

The difference you can make
No matter how you might choose to remember us, you can be sure that you will make a real and lasting contribution to the children we care for at Acorns. Your memory will live on in the smiles on the faces of children who come to Acorns for years to come.

A donation in your Will, however large or small, can help to make sure that Acorns can continue to provide specialist care services to help hundreds of children who have life limiting or life threatening illnesses, and their families, across the region for years to come. Whether these fund physiotherapists to provide sessions in the hydrotherapy pools, a nurse giving end of life care to a child or a Community Worker comforting a family after their child's bereavement, you will be making real difference.

Should you choose to leave a gift to Acorns it's straightforward to organise. Just let your solicitor know your intentions when you make your Will or, if you have a Will already, you can add a short legal statement known as a Codicil to update your wishes. You can speak to your solicitor to organise this.

Should you wish to include Acorns Children's Hospice in your Will the following suggested wording examples will help you.

For a residuary legacy: I give ….% of the residue of my real and personal estate to Acorns Children's Hospice, Registered Charity Number 700859 of Drakes Court, Alcester Road, Wythall, Birmingham, B47 6JR and I direct that the receipt of the treasurer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my executors.

For a pecuniary legacy: I give the sum of £…… to Acorns Children's Hospice, Registered Charity Number 700859 of Drakes Court, Alcester Road, Wythall, Birmingham, B47 6JR and I direct that the receipt of the treasurer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my executors.

£35,000 could pay for a Community Team Worker to work with a team to support our families 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

£190,000 could pay for five years of care from a Hospice Nurse.

£250,000 could pay for a Community Team to support nearly 300 families in their homes.
