Danny Ross – Community Fundraising, Public Collections, Events and Fundraising Administration Volunteer
Danny volunteers in several areas of the organisation and is always willing to help whenever and wherever he can. Danny says “Back in 1993, I was inspired by the care given to my nephew, Richard, and wanted to give something back. I started out as a driver and also cooking Friday night tea for the children at Selly Oak – tea usually consisting of fish fingers and sausages! As the community fundraising started to develop and grow, I then helped out at lots of public collections, selling Christmas cards at various places, representing Acorns at cheque presentations and I still, to this day, enjoy the variety of events and meeting the people of our community who are always so generous and supportive to Acorns. It’s a huge compliment when supporters hold an annual event and actually ring up and ask if I can attend again. It makes me very proud to think that people regard me as ‘the face of Acorns’ in their community and to make me feel a part of the Acorns family”.
