Midnight Walk

A HUGE thank you from everyone at Acorns to all our wonderful walkers, marvellous marshals and volunteers who helped make the Acorns Midnight Walk 2011 a great success!

More than 1,000 people gave up a night’s sleep and pledged to raise more than £80,000! Something to be truly proud of. The sea of purple t-shirts in Victoria Square at Midnight showed just how big a difference Acorns supporters can make in just one night! Natalie, whose daughter Jessica receives care from Acorns, wanted to say a personal thank you after she walked in the event too.

“The minute Jessica goes to Acorns, she smiles. It’s a fun, happy place to be. A big, big thank you to everyone who’s taken part and raised money. Acorns is vital to the children and families of the West Midlands and we need your continued support for these children to have a great quality of life and to give families a rest.”

About the Midnight Walk

This 10km ladies-only walking event starts and finishes at Victoria Square against the backdrop of the Town Hall and the Council House. The 2011 event was kicked of with a fun warm up and entertainment from BRMB presenters Jo & Sparky . The route will took in the familiar city landmarks of Bullring, the Jewellery Quarter, St Philip’s Cathedral and Brindleyplace by moonlight as over 1,000 supporters raised much needed funds for Acorns.BRMB's Jo & Sparky

The event, supported by BRMB and national recruitment specialists First Personnel, is a stark reminder that a good nights sleep is hard to achieve when caring for a life limited child. In giving up just one night, participants made a real difference to local families who depend on the support of Acorns to help them cope with huge emotional, physical and financial challenges.
