For the 2nd year running, the CC & Viyella has launched their “Old for New” clothes donation scheme in Solihull to prepare for a fresh year ahead- with a fabulous fashion offer which will help Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Acorns in Solihull has teamed up with fashion chain CC & Viyella to support children and families of life limited children.
Until Feb 15th, shoppers clearing out their wardrobes and bringing quality donations to the store will be rewarded with £10 discount vouchers toward purchases.
The launch of the partnership was formed to help support Acorn’s new store opening last May. Manager of CC & Viyella, Vikkie Richmond said, “It was great to see what great charitable response we had to support our local charity shop before it had even opened. We received around a thousand garment donations to help stock their shop and decided to make it an annual scheme.”
“When donating garments, they can absolutely any brand- Acorns are in need of good pieces to sell, so we don’t want to limit what the charity receive. If in doubt what to donate, please call the CC & Viyella store on 0121 705 7209.
“We want to help Acorns’ children and families, and we are inviting people to join us, and at the same time to look their best, in the latest styles.”
The clothing store later celebrated their partnership at a Fashion Show featuring their Autumn Winter season’s styles, near Acorns’ high-fashion store in Station Road, outside Touchwood shopping centre in Solihull.
Acorns’ Solihull manager Julia Phillips, whose store is aimed exclusively at high-end fashions, said: “We are urging people to bring us any last season’s clothing.
“Acorns cares for nearly 600 children who have life limiting or life threatening conditions and 800 families, including those that are bereaved. There is no charge to families for using the services but it does cost £750 per day for each child’s care, so Acorns relies on donations for the majority of its income.”

Notes to editors:
Due to the sensitive nature of Acorns care services it refrains from using the words ‘terminal’ or ‘terminally ill’ in its press releases and public communications when describing the children who use Acorns and the conditions that they have. Instead, Acorns uses the words ‘life limited’, ‘life limiting’, or ‘life threatening’ – terms that are used by medical experts at the point of diagnosis of the child, and which are commonly used in the UK’s children’s hospice movement and paediatric palliative care communications. Acorns kindly requests that you respect this in your own press coverage of Acorns Children’s Hospice. Acorns children have a lot of living to do. Thank you.
Acorns offers a network of care and support to children who have life limiting or life threatening conditions and their families, at its hospices in Selly Oak, Walsall and Worcester, and through its community team who offer support at home. Children can stay at the hospices for short breaks, emergency and end-of-life care. The community team give support to the family 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Acorns has developed in size and expertise, and led nationally and internationally toward the immensely important goal of giving life limited children and their families the best possible care.
Since its opening in 1988, Acorns’ reputation has been built on quality of care, and attention to detail – where the whole family is supported, reflecting the Palliative Care Network’s vision towards ‘Living well to the end of life.’
Acorns’ Community Team is the first contact for Acorns families. Acorns contacts all newly accepted families within 7 days.
The hospices would welcome referrals, at Acorns in Birmingham (tel. 0121 248 4850); Acorns in The Black Country (Tel 01922 422500); and Acorns for the Three Counties (tel 01905 767676), for details see www.acorns.org.uk
