Now is the Time Appeal

Our recently launched ‘NOW is the time’ campaign is asking for help from the public to secure the future of their local children’s hospice by helping Acorns to raise the money to fund 25,000 days of care to mark our 25th anniversary.

David Strudley, Acorns chief executive, explains: “We are finding that local life-limited and life-threatened children and their families are more dependent than ever on the support we provide.

“The ‘NOW is the time’ campaign is a stark reminder that these families cannot simply wait for things to improve as so many of us are planning in the face of an uncertain future. The need to use a children’s hospice can strike at any time – children can be born with a condition or diagnosed at any point in their lives, regardless of race, religion, financial or other circumstances – and a family’s need is immediate.

“Put simply, we understand times are hard but families are relying on Acorns to be there for them 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and we need support NOW. So, we’re asking for people to support us in whatever way they can, whether it’s money, time or non-financial donations of goods or expertise.”

The aim is to reach our target through a mix of public support, income our Acorns’ chain of 52 retail shops and statutory funding by late 2013, when we will mark our 25th anniversary of first providing care to local children.
