Ross-on-Wye Support Group

Ross-on-Wye Support Group are a small friendly group of people who use the Man of Ross Inn, Wye Street, Ross-on-Wye as our headquarters. We are now entering our second year of supporting Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Our policy is be a stress free, happy support group with the emphasis to engage fun and humour with every event that we plan and organise. The sponsored events that we held to date include race nights, raffles, auctions, skittles, Bar-b-q, 6 mile walk, fancy dress bike ride, head shave and Triathlon. A lot of fun with the hard work from the dedicated team achieved financial fundraising totals of £11,465 through the 450 challenge for Acorns, £957 for Aston Villa old stars Football Club, £180 for St Johns Ambulance Brigade and £77 for wyenot.com.

All of our group members, sponsors and supporters are very pleased and proud of our achievements.

2011 Events

• Sponsored slim John Kyrle high school Dinner Ladies, 17th January to 18th July.
• Race night, held on 18th March at the Man of Ross Inn - this event was a great success and thanks to everyone to came along!

• Sponsored cream egg yutting (eating) competition, Easter Sunday 24th April. At The Man of Ross pub, 2.00pm start. All welcome.
• Forest of Dean Run, 4th June.
• Hawaiian Night, 11th June at the Mighty 8 Sports Club: 7.30pm to late.
• Ross-on-Wye 10k Fun Run, 12th June.
• Golf Tournament, 16th July at Raglan Parc golf course with refreshments and entertainment afterwards at the Mighty 8 Pool Club.
• 10 Mile Fancy Dress Bike ride, 28th August: 10.30 am start from The Man of Ross Inn. BBQ and raffle when riders return. View event report here.
• Fun Day at The Plough Inn, 29th August at 1pm.Lots of fun for all the family including a BBQ, prize raffle,tug of war, disco music and live vocalist. View event report and photos here.
