Sibling support services

Acorns supports more than 290 siblings. We have a team of dedicated trained volunteers who work alongside the highly skilled Regional Sibling Lead.

We are also able to offer siblings the following:

BASIL Magazine Group:
Basil stands for Brothers and Sisters in League. The siblings who attend BASIL produce articles about their brothers, sisters, school experiences in the format of stories or poetry. The group goes on day trips as well as work on the magazine.

Under 11’s Support Group:
Groups are held in the North and the South of the region 5 times a year. This provides younger children the opportunity to share their views and feelings whilst also enjoying fun activities ranging from creative art to bowling.

Creative Workshops:
In 2009 the Creative Workshop opportunity was film making with Reel Access Film Company. The siblings involved in this produced a short film which was showcased at the Electric Cinema in Birmingham!

Adventure Away Days:
These vary year on year, however we have enjoyed the competitive opportunities of undertaking ‘It’s a Knockout’ with Sunfield School.
