Golden Oak Tribute Funds

A Golden Oak Tribute Fund is a special way to pay lasting tribute to someone you love whilst helping to support Acorns Children's Hospice.

At Acorns we know that dealing with the loss of a loved one is a very personal matter and everyone finds their own way to cope with their experience. Often people find it a comfort to do something positive and lasting in celebration of their loved one's life. That's what Golden Oak Tribute Funds are all about.

What is a Golden Oak Tribute Fund?
A Golden Oak Tribute Fund is a special way to pay lasting tribute to someone you love and at the same time support Acorns work with children and young people who have life limiting and life threatening conditions, and their families.

When we receive a gift made in memory of a loved one, perhaps in lieu of flowers at a funeral, we offer to open a Golden Oak Tribute Fund. Initially, the fund will hold the in memoriam gifts that have already been made then there are many ways that you can then grow your fund, should you wish to.

Did you know? If you have ever made a donation in memory of a loved one you could open a Golden Oak Tribute Fund in their name.

Can anyone open a Golden Oak Tribute Fund?
Yes, a Golden Oak Tribute Fund can celebrate the life of anyone you choose, old or young, whether they had a connection with Acorns in their lifetime or not.

Golden Oak Tribute Fund logoHow does a Golden Oak Tribute Fund work?
When you open a fund, we will ask you to choose a name for it, for example, Sarah Smith Golden Oak Tribute Fund. We will then send you a Welcome Pack and regular updates about the difference that the fund is making to the children that we care for. When a fund reaches £250 or more, you will be sent an oak tree sapling to plant as a lasting reminder of your loved one. As the sapling grows it will embody the growing and strengthening support that the Golden Oak Tribute Fund provides Acorns.

How can I grow the fund?
You can make an annual gift on the anniversary of a special occasion or make a regular monthly donation. You might like to let friends and relatives know about your Golden Oak Tribute Fund so they can contribute too.

There are lots of other ways to help your Golden Oak Tribute Fund grow. You might like to organise fundraising events in memory of your loved one, perhaps a coffee morning or sports day, or raise sponsorship by taking part in an event organised by Acorns.

I would like to tell friends and family about the fund too, how can I do this?
It's really easy to tell friends and family about the fund. In the Welcome Pack that you'll receive once you've opened your fund, you'll find some donation envelopes that you can send out to friends and family along with fundraising ideas of how they can contribute too. You can visit www.acorns.org.uk for more fundraising ideas and to view the calendar of events organised by Acorns.

What is the fund used for?
All donations made to a Golden Oak Tribute Fund will help Acorns to continue to provide vital nursing care and support services for our children and their families, now and in the future.
