Worcester Warriors are long-term supporters of Acorns Children’s Hospice - Chairman Cecil Duckworth OBE is one of the
original benefactors of Acorns in the Three Counties based on Bath Road in Worcester and Acorns is the Warrior’s official charity partner. The Warriors are working to raise vital funds for Acorns as well as making regular visits to the hospice for an insight into the work of Acorns.
Worcester Warriors has extended its support by prominently carrying the Acorns Children’s Hospice logo on all official training kit over the next two years. The club will be donating £1 from every item sold carrying the logo in the Sixways Store direct to Acorns to help raise crucial funds.
Chairman Cecil Duckworth said: "I am delighted that we are taking this initiative and supporting Acorns in such a visible way. The orange kit we wore for Acorns at the Middlesex Sevens back in 2007 helped raise real awareness and over the next two years we hope to raise even more money for the fantastic and valuable work of the charity.”
First team stars Chris Fortey, Craig Gillies and Tevita Taumoepeau – who are Acorns Ambassadors at Sixways – helped launch the new training range with some of the children and families who use the hospice in Worcester and its many 'lifeline' services.
“Everyone at Warriors was keen to do even more to help the children and families who use Acorns and so we’re really pleased that we can now wear the training kit with real pride to show our support,” said Fortey.
"The squad plans to make even more regular trips to Acorns during this coming season and feel it is a facility that we should be exceptionally proud of within our community. We hope the new training kit will not only raise further awareness of exactly what Acorns do, but also generate important funding with every sale making a difference and contributing to the charity's vital work."
David Strudley, chief executive of Acorns Children's Hospice, said: “The Worcester Warriors are a major partner of Acorns and have been hugely supportive of the charity and its work over the years.
“Our presence on the training kits is a wonderful gift that will not only put us directly in front of a huge audience but also raise vital funds to contribute to the £7,500 needed to run our three counties hospice every single day.
“On behalf of the children of Acorns and their families, we would like to thank the Club for all it has done and have undertaken to continue to do for us and wish them every good fortune for the new season.”
The Warriors have pledged to wear Acorns branded training kit prior to every match in the RFU Championship this season.

Not only helping to raise vital funds, the Warriors are also giving valuable time to our cause. Recently, staff at Worcester Warriors, led by General Manager Charlie Little, took time out of their working week to lend a hand to Acorns Children’s hospice in Bath Road, Worcester.
The team, made up of six member of the Management Team, spent a day at Acorns painting gates and fencing for the Three Counties’ Hospice. The team also cleared weeds from flower beds and trimmed hedges.
Charlie Little said: “The Warriors Management Team were delighted to take time out of the working week to give something back to the community that gives us so much support. Acorns is an amazing charity and we are delighted to be working with them to improve the lives of children with life-limiting illnesses and conditions.”
