Thank you for supporting Acorns Children’s Hospice

Acorns Thank You Week is back for 2025, and once again we’re celebrating YOU – our amazing supporters who make our lifeline care possible.

This special week is our chance to shine a light on all the amazing supporters who stand with Acorns. Whether you have taken part in an event, made a donation, fundraised at work, given the gift of time, shopped at or donated to an Acorns shop or helped raise awareness of our children’s hospice care – thank you! You are the reason we can be there for local children and families when they need us most.

You make our care possible

Demand for Acorns specialist care and support has doubled in the past year. More families are turning to Acorns than ever before and it’s only thanks to people like you that we can be there for them.

Why your support matters

At Acorns, we rely on the public to fund nearly two thirds of our running costs. That means your support is not just appreciated, it’s essential.

Every year, it costs £13 million to provide our vital care and support services across the West Midlands and Gloucestershire. Your generosity – whether it’s time, money, or simply spreading the word – helps ensure children with life limiting and life threatening conditions, and their families, never face their journey alone.

Thank you for standing with us. Thank you for making a difference.

Together we are stronger.

Families like Patrick’s rely on Acorns

Little Patrick, now two years old, has beautiful eyelashes, has the cutest babble and his mum Keri says he gets all the cuddles. But when he was born unexpectedly at home, Patrick suffered a brain injury. His parents Keri and Andy were told to expect the worst. Doctors diagnosed the tiny new-born with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE), a brain injury caused by restricted oxygen or blood flow to the brain.

Patrick fought and survived but after several weeks of care the word ‘hospice’ was mentioned.

“I was very resentful when I was referred to Acorns,” Keri said. “But we walked into the hospice and got hit with this wave of warmth and friendliness.”

“I saw one of the nurses in a room with a child, and she was chatting to them, and singing songs. I knew from that moment I was in the right place – and that it was a magical place.”

Because of your support, Patrick’s family has found care, comfort and a compassionate community in Acorns. And they’re just one of over 1,000 families we supported last year.
