Christmas is a special time

It’s the time of year to make new memories as well as take time to remember those who are loved and missed. Whether you’d like to make a dedication to someone who has used our services, or if they have no direct connection to Acorns, Celebrate Your Star is the perfect gift for remembering a loved one this Christmas.

Dedicate a star

When you donate to Celebrate Your Star, two stars will be created in your loved one’s name. One will be hung on the Christmas tree at your nearest Acorns Children’s Hospice, and the other will be sent to you to hang in pride of place at home. Your loved one’s name will also be included in our Book of Remembrance which is displayed at our Celebrate Your Star events.

Your gift is a vital link to support local children and families who are using Acorns this Christmas, helping us to be stronger together.

Come to a Celebrate Your Star event

Our Celebrate Your Star events have now finished for 2023. Thank you to everyone who joined us to remember our stars and look ahead to the festive season.

Our 2024 Celebrate Your Star events will launch in Autumn 2024.

How Celebrate Your Star works

  • Donate: Click the tree image to visit our virtual Christmas tree to donate and dedicate your star to someone special. Alongside your gift, you’ll be able to leave a tribute to your loved one which we’ll include in our Book of Remembrance and display at our events. You can also donate through the Acorns website.
  • Let your star shine: Two stars will be created in your loved one’s name. One will be added to the Christmas tree at an Acorns hospice and the other will be posted to you to decorate your own tree at home. Please note, we will begin sending out stars in November so don’t worry if you don’t receive your star straight away.

Why your support matters

Your gifts make a big difference to children and families using Acorns. Thanks to your generosity, we receive around 60% of the funding needed to provide care for children with life limiting and life threatening conditions from our amazing community of supporters. Only with your support can we be here for local children and their families this Christmas and all year round. Together, we are stronger.

Here are just a few examples of how your gift helps us be stronger together at Christmas:

  • £10 could help fund art supplies for a session of specialist Christmas crafting to create a special Christmas card for parents to treasure forever
  • £20 could help fund the equipment our nurses require when providing care in the family home – ensuring that families can have time together at home over Christmas
  • £40 could help fund one hour of vital nursing care for a child who needs specialist medical support on Christmas Day.
