Acorns Bubble Rush

Thank you Bubblers!

A HUGE thank you to all the amazing Bubblers who attended Acorns Bubble Rush on Saturday 24th June! Over 1,500 participants descended on Hatton Country World to support the event aiming to raise £28,000 to fund vital care for local children and families at Acorns.

Below is a special thank you from parents Simon and Cheryl whose 10 year old daughter Caitlin is cared for at Acorns. Simon took on the challenge of the Bubble Rush to raise funds and Cheryl helped by handing out medals to Bubblers crossing the finish line.

Paying in your fundraising money

Supporting local children

Simon challenged himself to take on the Acorns Bubble Rush to raise money to support the care we provide to local children, including his 10 year old daughter Caitlin.

“That’s why I’m trying to raise a little money for Acorns. It might not be a lot, but it’s our way of saying thank you for all they do for us and for caring for our little girl as much as we do,” Caitlin's dad Simon.

“Acorns support is invaluable and gives us that much needed respite. They give us a break so we can recharge our batteries and be able to continue caring for Caitlin," said Simon.

“Acorns provide the only overnight respite we get. Caitlin is on a machine to help her breathe, every single night and some nights we get very little sleep. That’s why I’m trying to raise a little money for Acorns. It might not be a lot, but it’s our way of saying thank you for all they do for us and for caring for our little girl as much as we do.”

Everything you raise big or small will make a real difference in helping us continue to care for local children and families that need our support.

£100 could pay for almost 3 hours of vital care for a child like Caitlin in one of our hospices.

Bubble Rush FAQs

What is the Bubble Rush?

The Bubble Rush is a fun run, jog or walk around a 5k loop. The course will have 4 bubble stations along the way filled with bright coloured foam. Once you arrive at the station we will have fully trained Bubble Commandos ready to spray foam at you – get ready to make all kinds of bubble shapes along the way!

Is the Bubble Rush a race?

No this event is JUST FOR FUN! It is not a competition and we will not be timing the event. You can take the course at whatever pace suits you – zoom through at lightning speed, or float slowly along with the bubbles, whatever works for you!

Who can take part in the Bubble Rush?

This event is perfect for absolutely EVERYONE – and children in particular will love it! Whatever your age and ability, this event is just for fun, so get ready to find the big kid within! Children under 6 can take part for FREE but we would advise you to hold their hand through the bubble station, as there is lots of foam and we are sure you wouldn’t want to lose them underneath the bubbles!

Is the event pushchair friendly?

The route is across fields and on grass which is uneven and challenging in places. We would strongly advise that if you want to push your pushchair through the foam stations, put the protective cover on and make sure your child doesn’t get a mouthful of foam!

Unfortunately we are unable to guarantee the course accessibility (due to weather) until the day of the event, but our aim is to accommodate everyone and we will do everything we can to ensure all participants are able to take part.

Please make sure you have taken this into consideration before registering and if you would like more information, please get in touch with us at events@acorns.org.uk  or call 01564 825 023

Is the event wheelchair friendly?

The route is across fields and on grass which is uneven and challenging in places, therefore we advise you check your chair can accommodate this and you may wish to bring someone along to help.

Unfortunately we are unable to guarantee the course accessibility (due to weather) until the day of the event, but our aim is to accommodate everyone and we will do everything we can to ensure all participants are able to take part.

Please make sure you have taken this into consideration and we would advise getting in touch with us at events@acorns.org.uk  or call 01564 825023 to discuss before registering.

Are pets allowed?

Unfortunately dogs are not allowed to enter the Bubble Rush and will not be permitted on the course. You are however very welcome to bring your dog (as long as it is well behaved and on a lead) to Hatton Shopping Village and on the many walks of the Hatton Estate.  Unfortunately only licensed assistance dogs are allowed into Hatton Adventure World.

Is the foam dangerous?

The foam mixture is completely natural and safe. Slight stinging in your eyes may occur, however the PH balance is very low so this shouldn’t be a big problem. We advise younger children to wear swimming goggles or fun sunglasses, as they will be head deep at most foam stations.  Be careful when wiping your eyes with your hands if they have frothy suds all over them too.

The coloured foam is made from food dye and is water soluble as well as environmentally friendly. There is a chance that this foam may stain some lighter coloured push chairs and clothes, so please be aware of this before you come to the event. To be safe we would also advise to bring towels to sit on in the car on your journey home – to avoid any possible stains or grumpy dads!

The bubble commandos at each station are professionally trained and will not shoot foam directly at your faces. The foam is also drier than most foams, which means you will not be slipping around at the foam stations (unless you slip and slide intentionally)

Can teams register?

Yes – the bigger the bubbly team the better, large groups of 10 or more are also eligible for a 10% discount off the entry fee.

What does my entry include?

Once you have signed up to this fantastic event you will receive a fundraising pack, a Bubble Rush T-shirt, a medal at the finish line and water on the day. You will also get an EXCLUSIVE DISCOUNT into Hatton Country World that you can use before or after the race!

Do I need to fundraise for this event?

We would love you to raise as much as you can by taking part in this event! Your registration fee will mainly cover the cost of putting the event on, so anything you can raise will go directly to helping all of the local children and their families who rely on Acorns for support every day! We will send each of you a welcome pack full of ideas on how to fundraise and support us and you can make a start today by creating your own Just Giving page

What do I wear?

You can wear whatever you like– the crazier the better! Most people prefer to run in regular running shorts and leggings, and you will be given a white Bubble Rush T-shirt before the event so if you want to wear that through the foam you will reach the finish line looking like a human rainbow!

We will also have lots of fun and crazy accessories available to buy so that you can run through the foam in style.

The coloured foam may stain your clothes so please make sure you do not wear anything valuable or that you wouldn’t want to get damaged.  We would suggest that you bring a change of clothes for after the event, as well as a towel so that you can dry off – especially if you wish to visit Hatton Adventure World after!  There will be toilets on site for you to get changed in and hopefully the British weather will be our friend and you can dry off in no time!

Remember that the foam is water based, so if your phone gets frothy, it could cause some water damage.  Your hands will also be wet after the event, so be careful not to drop your phone.

Can I visit Hatton Adventure World?

Yes! Bubblers get a special discount to Hatton Adventure World on the day at just £8.25 per person.

Refunds & Transfers

Unfortunately registrations are non-refundable. We can transfer your place if you know someone that can replace you.  Your replacement will need to fill out a transfer form, please contact us at events@acorns.org.uk for more information.
