Pay for a Day is your chance to fund 24 hours of vital care in one of our three hospices by gifting £7,000.
Pay for a Day is your chance to make a meaningful difference to life limited and life threatened children and their families. Whether you choose to fund 24 hours at an Acorns hospice with a one-off donation or over a longer period of time, your generosity will help us create special moments and lasting memories for the wonderful children and families we support.
It costs £7,000 to fund 24 hours of vital care at one of our three hospices, and there are a number of ways you can Pay for a Day:
Acorns is the largest children’s hospice charity in the UK, with three hospices serving the West Midlands, Warwickshire, the Three Counties, Staffordshire and Shropshire. We offer a home from home hospice environment, providing specialist care for children with life limiting and life threatening conditions and support for their families.
By Paying for a Day you will be making a real and lasting difference to the children and families we support. Funding a day of vital care can also be a meaningful way to celebrate a date that is special to you or your organisation, whether that’s an anniversary, birthday or in memory of a loved one.
Donating a day of vital care is a very special gift and we would like to help you celebrate your chosen day.
To say thank you we will place a personalised certificate in the hospice on your chosen day, letting visitors and staff know you have paid for this day.
We will also publicly thank you for your generosity by publicising your gift on our website and our social media (unless you would like to remain anonymous).
In addition to this, we will provide you with a special memento to keep.
You can visit the hospice on the day you’ve paid for if Covid restrictions allow or visit on a later date as we welcome you to come and see first-hand the vital care and support you have funded. You will have the opportunity to learn more about our work and to meet children and our care team.
Find out what 24 hours at an Acorns hospice might look like:
Cheltenham-based Spirax Sarco were inspired to make Acorns their Charity of the Year in 2019 after their colleague’s daughter was diagnosed with rare genetic condition Miller-Dieker Syndrome and died when she was just two years old. Her family received specialist care and bereavement support from Acorns for the Three Counties.
Employees were aiming to raise enough to Pay for a Day of care, but after their year of fundraising, joining events and match funding from the company the total raised was enough to pay for more than a weekend of care at our Worcester hospice.
“Spirax Sarco is delighted to have been able to support Acorns hospice during 2019. The charity offers an amazing service to our local community, supporting children, young people and their families during their most difficult times.
While a significant amount of money was raised, it is just a small proportion of the funds needed by the charity annually to be able to continue to provide the level of care and support that it offers today. We hope that the work we have done to raise awareness of Acorns will encourage our employees, and others, to continue to look for ways to support this excellent organisation in the future.“
– Staurt Jessop, General Manager for Market and Business Developement at Spirax Sarco
