Corporate volunteering

Are you looking at a way to bring your team together whilst boosting your corporate social responsibility? Then look no further than a corporate volunteering day!

Corporate volunteering provides your teams with the opportunity to connect with a local cause alongside providing the perfect environment for creative thinking and collaborative working. Not only can this develop team relationships, but it can also help your colleagues connect with Acorns and really understand who we are and what we do.

There are a huge array of opportunities for your colleagues to get involved, and we’re always open to hearing your own volunteering ideas too. Please take a look below to see some of the opportunities we currently have available.

Wesleyan corporate volunteering in Acorns shops

Helping at one of our events

We have a brilliant calendar of events throughout the year and we are always in need of an extra pair of hands to give our supporters the best experience possible.

Jobs could include helping to set up, marshaling, handing out medals, selling raffle tickets and merchandise or getting involved in a cheer station to encourage participants around their challenge. We also often need volunteers for bucket collections at large scale events such as the annual Worcester Warriors charity matchday. If you are up for getting stuck in and helping us out then get in touch!

*Please note these will often be held on an evening or weekend

Volunteering in an Acorns shop

Regardless of if you are a shopaholic or not, volunteering in one of our retail shops provides the perfect environment to promote team working and encourage some healthy competition between colleagues.

Our shops contribute almost £2 million per annum to our income and our 40+ shops are busy places.

A retail taster day will give you a real insight into the operations of a charity’s retail division. Activities on your volunteering day could include:

  • Sorting and tagging stock
  • Steaming and pricing items
  • Replenishing and merchandising a bay
  • Window dressing
  • Giving the manager ideas to help drive sales and donation

Participants are encouraged to bring their own donations, take them through the stock process and try to sell as many of them as possible. The shop manager and their team will be on hand to support you throughout the day, and we can even check the end of day takings to see the impact that has been made that day.

Sprucing up a hospice garden

Our gardens are at the heart of each of our hospices, providing a safe and stimulating environment for our children and families to spend time together. Our gardens are maintained wholly by volunteer support and we have a number of voluntary groups support us throughout the year.

Activities could include general maintenance and outdoor tasks in our hospice gardens, such as weeding, cleaning play equipment and painting fences.

Volunteering opportunities within the hospices themselves are incredibly limited and get booked up very quickly, however please do let us know if you are interested and we will try to accommodate you.

Professional Skills

Do you have a key skill that you think we could benefit from or a team of individuals who wish to utilize their profession to benefit a charity?

Get in touch today to discuss how your teams could utilize their professional skills to benefit Acorns, we are always open to having conversations and understanding how your support could benefit our charity.

Some examples of professional skills volunteering:

  • Leading learning and development training sessions
  • Providing design and marketing support
  • Offering construction-based expertise e.g. building a fence or creating a new pathway in one of our hospice gardens. Making it safer for children and families.
