Through the Government’s new Kickstart Scheme Acorns is proud to be offering local unemployed young people six month work placements to help them gain valuable experience that could help set them on their future career path.
Open to 16-24 years, who are on Universal Credit and are at risk of long-term employment, Acorns currently has 55 fixed term job placements available*. The roles are predominantly within our charity shops, but also cover our three Children’s Hospice sites and central head office functions.
Working at Acorns is both challenging and rewarding, and we take pride in looking after people in line with the values of being caring, committed, trusted, collaborative, courageous and curious.
“My favourite thing about working for Acorns is the fact that Acorns makes such a difference to the lives of the children and families who access the services. I feel proud to be a small part of that.”
*scheme jobs are 25 hours per week and pay at least the National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage depending on how old individuals are.
To be eligible, you must be aged between 16-24 and receiving Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment. You will need to be referred through your employment coach at the Job Centre Plus or DWP and must be able to commit to 25 hours of paid work per week for six months.
To start the ball rolling, you will need to talk to your Work Coach in the first instance about the opportunities available at Acorns. Interviews for Acorns applicants will be taking place in August with successful individuals joining the team from 6th September.
