Make a Will Month 2022

This June we will once again be launching our Make a Will Month scheme.

What is Make a Will Month?

Local law firms are offering a FREE and exclusive Will writing scheme in partnership with Acorns Children’s Hospice. Your Will isn’t just about leaving personal belongings. It’s also the best way to plan for the future and ensure your wishes are known, giving you and your loved one’s peace of mind and security.

It’s FREE to take part in Acorns Make a Will Month and there is no obligation to leave a gift to Acorns in your Will, although a gift, however big or small, will help us continue to provide vital children’s hospice care and create precious memories for families to treasure for years to come.

Plan for the future and support local children and families

Why should I write a Will?

Although it’s not an easy subject to talk about, making a Will has many benefits, but above all it puts you in control and ensures that your wishes are known and respected.

Here are just some of the reasons why you should write a Will:

  • To make sure your loved ones, including children, are looked after when you’re gone
  • Whether big or small, valuable or sentimental, a Will ensures that your belongings go to the right place
  • To minimise family disputes
  • Leave gifts to family, friends, and charity
  • For unmarried couples, making a Will is particularly important if you wish to leave a legacy for your partner

How does the Make a Will Month scheme work?

Typically the fees associated with making a Will are £100-200 for a basic single Will and £150-£300 for a basic joint Will. Instead of paying your law firm this fee (which is FREE as part of our Make a Will Month) we’re asking if you would consider making a VOLUNTARY donation to Acorns, of £90 for a single Will or £130 for a joint Will. Your gift will ensure we can continue to provide vital care, 24/7 for children like Ellana.

Your support helps children like Ellana

Ellana is two years old and has MAND syndrome. This means she is blind, is PEG fed as she can’t swallow, has no muscle strength so she is completely dependent on others to change her position and she has seizures. She also has frequent infections risking sepsis and irritable spells lasting up to 72 hours at a time which is torture for her to go through and for the family to witness.

Her mum Cara shares their journey to Acorns: “When she was diagnosed last year, it was in the middle of lockdown 1 so we had little to no support from services and as we were shielding family also couldn’t help. That’s where Acorns came in and they were absolute lifesavers. Providing respite stays, physio in their hydrotherapy pools, music therapy and sibling therapy for Lucas.”

By supporting Make a Will Month you will be helping us continue to provide vital children’s hospice care to children like Ellana and their families.
