Art 4 Charity auction for Acorns

A film promoting the Forward In Unity mural

An exclusive A0 print of the Forward in Unity print is up for grabs at auction to raise funds Acorns Children’s Hospice

Art4Charity brought together creative professionals from across the region, with the aim of raising funds for local charitable causes. In the midst of lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the initiative was formed to ensure that valued charitable organisations in Birmingham and the surrounding areas could continue to thrive in the face of adversity. So far the total raised is over £54,000.

Paul Cadman, Acorns Vice President, hands over the signed print to Noel Cramer, Director of Supporter Engagement

The goal was to harness the skills from across the region, at a time when many creative professionals found themselves devoid of new projects. In return, artists receive royalties for everything they create, with the most significant portion reserved for charitable endeavours. Art4Charity supports the Lord Mayor of Birmingham’s Charity, as well as specifically raising funds for: Acorns Children’s Hospice, SIFA Fireside and Birmingham St Marys Hospice.

In these unprecedented times, Birmingham has moved forward in unity, demonstrating the indomitable spirit in the face of adversity that characterises the city. The artist, Gent48, has encapsulated this attitude through the perfect portrayal of the city’s ethos in defeating COVID-19, with his mural masterpiece – ‘Forward in Unity’. As well as boosting morale, his artwork serves as the centrepiece of an opportunity to help those in need and act as a reminder in years to come of this pandemic.

Now the mural in Digbeth is complete; 10 A0 sized limited edition prints have been signed by 250 ‘Birmingham Dignitaries’ and endorsed by: The Rt Hon Boris Johnson MP – Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Keir Starmer KCB QC MP (leader of the opposition), the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Mohammed Azim and Gent48 (the artist) who has hand signed and numbered each and every one. Now one of these exclusive pieces is up for auction to raise funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Valued at £10,000, this is your opportunity to own a piece of Birmingham history while supporting local children and families. For your chance to win this limited edition print simply email your bid to supporterservices@acorns.org.uk
