The Pantomime is a firm family favourite, it’s the chance for old and young alike to get together for a memorable day full of laughter! Oh yes it is!
It’s no different for families at Acorns and, thanks to Birmingham Hippodrome, on Saturday 5 January we enjoyed the swashbuckling Pantomime adventure, Peter Pan.
The all-star cast including TV and recording star Darren Day, comedy actress Meera Syal, panto favourite Matt Slack and Union J’s Jaymi Hensley brought the magic of Neverland to the Hippodrome.
Families were treated to a real VIP experience, including a backstage tour of the set and a special meet and greet with the cast at the end of the show. The stars made time to speak with families, take photos and sign the children’s programmes.
Meera Syal even popped in before the show to join in with some Peter Pan inspired crafts and music, including making Tinkerbelle peg dolls and singing “Rock around the Croc”.
After the crafts came a special backstage tour, with the chance to stand in the footsteps of the stars on centre stage, explore the majestic set and learn about the amazing special effects.
Then for the show! Being a relaxed performance there was plenty of space for wheelchairs and safe environment for special needs. We were promised “barrels of laughter, magic and fairy dust” and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Ten year old Dom said the show was “phenomenal!” which summed up the day perfectly.
