Glittering Pearl Ball Drives Up £21,500 for Children’s Charity

A glittering Pearl Ball set among the world’s largest collection of classic British cars has raised more than £21,500 for local children and families.

The event at the prestigious British Motor Museum in Gaydon, was organised by the Acorns South Warwickshire Fundraising Group to drive-up funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

The stylish spectacular, which included a Champagne reception among the museum’s collection of iconic motor vehicles, was held to support Acorns work caring for children and families across the region and to mark the charity’s 30th anniversary.

Fundraising Group chair Tracey Pickin OBE said: “What a night! This fantastic evening raised a massive £21,500 for Acorns, which is just amazing.

“Huge thanks to everyone who attended and to the many people and businesses who supported us with sponsorship and generous donations. We really could not have raised this incredible amount without you.”

Established in 1988, Acorns Children’s Hospice offers a network of specialist palliative care and support for babies, children and young people with life limiting and life threatening conditions, as well as support for their families.

In the past year Acorns has cared for over 870 children and more than 1,140 families, including those who are bereaved.

Carol Pratt, Community Fundraising Development Manager at Acorns, said: “We’re thrilled the Group’s Pearl Ball was such a success and we can’t thank everyone enough for the fantastic amount raised.

“It costs us £7,000 every 24 hours at each of our hospices to provide our vital care and services, both in the hospice and in the community. So, this money will make a real difference to children and families.”
