Our Family Team have been sending out activity packs to help entertain the siblings of children we support
In what is a scary and unprecedented time for all of us, Acorns Children’s Hospice is ensuring that the families we support don’t feel alone. We support some of the most vulnerable children and families in our region, who will all be in strict isolation to protect their children with life limiting and life threatening conditions.
Siblings of these children will also have been isolating for many weeks. Our Sibling Groups usually provide an environment where children can meet others in similar situations, take part in therapeutic and fun activities, and get the chance to just be children. Until this is over, we are finding new ways to help these siblings cope, and to help them stay connected to others in similar situations as well as their support workers.
Our Sibling team are providing support over the phone, sending out activity packs and setting up digital meetings so siblings can get peer support from their friends and feel less isolated. Even though we have to be physically distant we don’t have to be socially distant.
