Acorns are incredibly proud to be the chosen charity supported by Aston Villa FC Women!
Acorns are the chosen charity supported by Acton Villa FC women at their game against Arsenal Women on Wednesday 30th April.
Villa fans are at the heart of our community, much like Acorns specialist children’s hospices. We’re asking fans to unite with Acorns to bring hope and joy to local children facing life’s toughest challenges – for fans to be ‘part of the Pride’ that extends beyond the stands, a pride that cares, shares, and transforms lives.
Ways to support
- Text ACORNS to 70450 to donate £5 to Acorns*
- Make a donation via our website
- Share your pride – use #PartOfThePride and #AcornsChildrensHospice to share that you’ve donated and made a difference
Together, we can make a lasting impact. Let’s show the strength of the Villa Pride and bring smiles to those who need them most.
*Texts cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message.

How your donation helps
In the past year, Acorns has cared for 781 children and 1,045 families across our region.
As a collective, £35,000 raised could pay for an entire day of vital care at all three of our West Midlands hospices. Your generous donation has the power to make an impact on someone’s life.

£5
£5 could allow us to provide lunch and dinner for a child in one of our hospices.

£20
£20 could fund the resources our clinical Outreach team requires when providing short breaks in the family home.

£45
£45 could fund one hour of specialist palliative care for a child in a hospice.
Alfie and his family are Part of the Pride
For parents Clare and Anthony, Alfie was the perfect addition to their family, and they couldn’t wait to meet him. Yet, just four days after he was born, they noticed something wasn’t quite right.
At seven days old, little Alfie was diagnosed with aortic atresia and underwent his first open-heart surgery. His second followed at seven months old, his third at two years old, and in 2023, at just 10, Alfie bravely endured his fourth open-heart surgery.
For Clare, each hospital visit feels like a blur. But for superfan Alfie, there’s only one thing on his mind – football.
So, when Alfie had the chance to meet his football heroes at Acorns Children’s Hospice, where he and his family receive lifeline care and support, he was over the moon. “I’ve played FIFA with Digne and I even beat McGinn 5-1 this year!” Alfie says.
It’s just one of the many precious memories Acorns has helped them create.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's in the bubbles?
The bubble solution is a mild and very dilute soapy liquid. The colour is a synthetic dye used in food colouring. All of the materials we use have been tested and are 100% safe for human consumption and do not harm the environment.
The bubble mixture is suitable for nut allergy sufferers, is gluten-free and vegetarian and vegan-friendly.
We provide the venue that we work with the details of the materials we use so that they are 100% confident that the venue and local environment will not be harmed.
Do I need to fundraise for this event?
Your ticket price covers the cost of putting on the event, so anything you raise in sponsorship will help Acorns to provide specialist care for life limited and life threatened children, and support for their families. By signing up for this event, you are agreeing to raise just £15 per person. You can start today by creating your fundraising page. Your Bubble Rush pack will also contain lots of fundraising ideas, including our bubble-tastic coin sheet for children.
Is the course accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs?
Our course is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs so that everyone can enjoy Bubble Rush!
We advise you to bring a rain cover to protect the fabric of your chair or buggy, or you can leave your pushchair at the pushchair drop in the event village for a small donation to Acorns.
Be aware that the bubble stations will be on grass and the great British weather may cause ground conditions to be muddy or slippery.
Is Bubble Rush suitable for someone with asthma?
As with all activities involving physical effort we recommend that anyone with a pre-existing medical condition checks with their GP before signing up for Bubble Rush.
Is Bubble Rush suitable for someone with eczema?
We use a soap fluid to create the bubbles, and we are aware that this can cause skin irritation for some people. So, if you are an Eczema sufferer we would advise you to check with your doctor before signing up.
What should I wear?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable in to walk, run or toddle 5k!
Be aware that the coloured bubbles can stain clothing (and your skin!) so please don’t wear your best new trainers and smartest running gear!
You’ll get a Bubble Rush T-shirt, and will be able to buy colourful items like headbands, visors, tutus and sunglasses to complete your outfit.
Can I bring my dog to Bubble Rush?
For the safety of all our participants, dogs, including assistance dogs, are not allowed to take part in Bubble Rush. This includes dogs that can be carried.
Spectators may bring dogs but they must be on a short lead and kept a safe distance from the course, and the bubble stations in particular.
The event team will ask any spectators whose dogs are posing a risk to participants to move away, so please respect any instructions that are given.
My children want to do Bubble Rush but I don’t want to take part, is that OK?
All under 16s must be accompanied around the Bubble Rush course by a participating adult. One adult can accompany up to 3 children under 16.
More information is available in the event Terms & Conditions.
Are the bubbles safe for the environment?
The bubble mixture is a very mild soap and the colour is a food colourant. The foam created degrades very quickly and is not harmful to wildlife or vegetation.
Before we get permission to run the event, we provide the venue with a full event management plan and details of the products used to create the bubbles.
There have been more than 180 Bubble Rush events since 2015 and no venue has ever raised any issues about Bubble Rush harming the environment in any way.
I’m pregnant, can I take part in Bubble Rush?
We don’t feel it would be safe for you to take part whilst pregnant. But pushchairs are welcome, and there’s no minimum age limit at Bubble Rush – so we hope you’ll join us with your little one in the future!
What do I need to bring?
You will get damp as you go around the course so we suggest you bring a change of clothes for the journey home.
When will my T-shirt arrive?
We will be in touch prior to the event to let you know more details.
Where is the event taking place?
Walsall Arboretum, Walsall, WS1 2QB View Map
How long is the course?
The course itself is approximately 2.5km long but participants but you’ll do this twice for double the incredi-bubble fun! If just one lap suits your group, then that is also fine.
