Acorns Celebrates Cheque for £24,000 From Family-Run Walsall Business

Acorns Children’s Hospice is celebrating the support of a Walsall based recruitment company which, despite the challenges caused by the pandemic, has raised an impressive £24,000 for the charity

People Solutions has been supporting Acorns for over a decade and this latest five-figure sum raised throughout the pandemic brings their overall fundraising total to staggering £86,000.

The family-run firm pledged to raise £40,000 for local good causes to mark their milestone 40th birthday, nominating Acorns to receive a generous £24,000 donation towards its lifeline care for local children and families.

Toby Porter, Chief Executive at Acorns Children’s Hospice, said: “A huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone at People Solutions for your incredible fundraising. To have raised £86,000 for us over the last 11 years is truly remarkable and for £24,000 of that amount to have been donated during a pandemic when charities have needed it so much, is an achievement of which you should all be so proud.

“Your support has been directly helping some of the most vulnerable young members of our community and their families during this awful pandemic period. We’re so grateful to have supporters like you – you mean the world to us. On behalf of everyone here at Acorns, a massive thank you.”

As well as their amazing gift, dedicated People Solutions staff have been taking part in an annual program of fundraising activities, raising much-needed funds for Acorns and its vital care for life limited and life threatened children.

From braving skydives to a popular ‘Pie the Director’ event, People Solutions colleagues have risen to the challenge to help Acorns continue to be there for children and families who rely on its support.

“At People Solutions, we’re very passionate about giving back to our communities and take our responsibilities very seriously.

“Acorns Children’s Hospice is an incredible organisation that provides vital care for people who need it most – we’re really proud to be able to support their work.”

Acorns Children’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care for children with life limiting and life threatening conditions across Walsall and the wider West Midlands.

In the past year the charity has cared for more than 800 children and over 1,000 families, including those who are bereaved.

It cost Acorns £27,000 every day to continue, with the bulk of that amount coming from fundraising and donations.
