Gill, event marshal
Gill Edwards has been volunteering for Acorns as an event marshal for two years.
Can you explain briefly what you do? First time marshalled on half marathon route. Second time at the finish line of the run.
What made you choose to volunteer at Acorns? Being a retired teacher, I have always valued and enjoyed children of all abilities – their effort and their courage. Also in my family we have a life limited very brave young boy.
What is your fondest memory of volunteering at Acorns? The atmosphere of a run is amazing and often very moving. I can no longer run, and this is my way of helping. I love it.

The care we provide
Acorns provides babies, children and young people aged 0-18 years who have life limiting or life threatening conditions and associated complex needs with a network of specialist palliative nursing care and support across the Heart of England. Acorns relies on the community to fund the majority of its activities. To learn more about what we do, please watch this video.
