Our 30th Anniversary Teddy Bears Picnic was held on Sunday 19th August at Blackmore Campsite. Families, staff and volunteers enjoyed a beautiful day at Blackmore Campsite celebrating Acorns 30th birthday.
Katreena, our volunteers manager said: “Blackmore is the Girl Guiding camp site which they generously donated to us for the day, which allowed us to make the day extra special as this was the first opportunity all families, staff and volunteers have been invited to an event all together.”
The Teddy Bears picnic included a Teddy Bear trail, a hand-wound carousel, children’s games, ice-cream and candy floss!
Katreena: “One particular member of the team was loving the opportunity to make the candy floss, we couldn’t get her away from it!! The children and the adults loved the rub on tattoos, competing to see who could have the most on. The bear hunt was wonderful for all ages and all abilities to take part in. We even had a name the bear competition, as if they needed more bears but you just can’t have enough!! So everyone went home with extra Teddy Bears which were donated by George Simpson from Marshall’s Transport. All the Bears certainly made it a very furry friendly day.”
One parent said: “Thanks for inviting us to such a lovely event, the girls had such a lovely day and they couldn’t have adored the carousel more, it was lovely to have them running around safely, something I rarely get to enjoy”
Families also had the chance to put their hand prints on our Acorns for the Three Counties banner, which was displayed at the Acorns Birthday Glow in the Park event on Sunday 21st October.
Thank you to everybody who came along and made the event a success, we hope you had a brilliant time!
