Did you know, we currently have 1,300 amazing volunteers* who give their time at our hospices, shops, fundraising events and in the local community?
We simply couldn’t do what we do without our dedicated and generous volunteers.
There really is no such thing as a typical volunteer; we welcome individuals from all walks of life, benefiting greatly from the skills and life experiences of the wide variety of people who join our team.
This includes valued volunteers like Charlotte, who first donated her time to Acorns as part of her Duke of Edinburgh Award. She enjoyed it so much that she returned after completing her award, to help on a regular basis as a retail volunteer.
“I like helping others and talking to customers, helping them to find things in the shop that they like.
“I feel like I’ve learnt how to work in a retail environment. Now I can use the till and help in the front of the shop, as well as sorting in the back.”
– Charlotte, volunteer at Acorns Children’s Hospice
Volunteering with Acorns is much more than giving time
The benefits of voluntary work are far reaching, from gaining work experience to building confidence and even making new friends. Whatever the motivation for donating your time, your contribution will help to make every day count for the wonderful children and families that are helped by Acorns.
