Putting a plan in place

This June, Acorns will once again partner with local law firms, who offer their Will writing services for free to our supporters. Sally took part in the scheme last year and wants to let you know how it went.

When our daughter was little, my husband and I had a Will drawn up as that’s the thing you do when you have children.

Since then, we haven’t really thought about it. She’s an adult now and I think I’ve known for many years we needed to make a new one.

I work with and support families every day so I know how important it is to plan for the future and have your wishes known.

When I heard about the Acorns Make a Will Month scheme, I knew I wanted us to take part as it ticked all the boxes.

Not only could we have our Wills drawn up, but we could support Acorns which is what we wanted.

The process itself was really smooth. I registered my interest on the Acorns website who then put me in touch with my chosen law firm. A couple of video calls and some paperwork later and we were all done. It was very easy and well managed.

On sign up you are asked if you would like to make a voluntary donation to Acorns which my husband and I chose to do as we know what wonderful work they do. This also saved us sourcing the Will writing service ourselves.

Making a Will gave us a sense of security because none of us know what’s around the corner.

Your Will isn’t just about leaving personal belongings. It’s also the best way to plan for the future and ensure your wishes are known, giving you and your loved ones peace of mind and security.

Acorns Make a Will Month scheme was a great opportunity to save money and support the care of local children at the same time.

None of us like thinking about the future and having to make a Will, but once it’s done you just know you’ve done the right thing.
