Something we hear very often at Acorns is that people think we only provide end of life care for children and that our hospices must be sad places. Acorns Nurse Jabran explains that we do so much more, and shares his message for everyone about children’s hospices.

While end of life care is an extremely important service we offer, there is so much more available at Acorns Children’s Hospice for life limited and life threatened children and their families. It is our mission to show people that children’s hospices are happy places, full of joy and fun where we make the most of every moment.

Children visit our hospices for short breaks (or respite), giving their families a break from caring round the clock. While they are at the hospice they can take part in lots of fun and therapeutic activities, from arts and crafts, to hydrotherapy. Our teams create a home from home filled with love and care, and many children don’t want to leave at the end of their stay!
