What we do

A parent never imagines their child will be diagnosed with a life limiting or life threatening condition. But when the unimaginable happens, Acorns steps in, helping families cope at every stage of their child’s life and beyond, wherever and whenever they need it.

Our dedicated teams provide specialist palliative care for children and young people from our three hospices, based in Worcester, Birmingham and Walsall, and in the community.

Hundreds of local babies, children and young people rely on Acorns Children’s Hospice for specialist 24-hour care and support. In turn, Acorns relies on people like you to fund the majority of our services. Your support with any charitable donation you can make is vital in helping us to continue the work that we do.

Our Care

Twin girls, Alexus and Natalie, were born at 23 weeks. When born that early a baby’s lungs are not fully developed so both girls had trouble breathing.

Alexus started to grow and get better, but Natalie was not responding to treatment. They were in the hospital for 5 months and parents Sam and Mike had barely been able to hold Natalie.

It was when they received the devastating news that there was nothing more that could be done for Natalie that they were referred to Acorns Children’s Hospice. Hear their story as told by Alexus, who is now five years old and thriving.
