Corporate team volunteering experiences are a fantastic way to bring together your team, promote collaborative working and spend some time outside of your normal workday to build relationships whilst supporting a brilliant local charity.

At Acorns we understand the importance of volunteering, and we rely heavily on the support of volunteers to enable us to continue providing our lifeline services to the children and families who need us the most in our shared community of the West Midlands and Three Counties.

By volunteering with Acorns, not only can you make a difference to your local community, but you can also showcase your dedication to being a socially responsible business.

Throughout the calendar year we have an array of opportunities which you and your teams can get involved with, from supporting at our Acorns-led events, to digging in to support our retail shops or providing an extra set of hands at a fundraising event. Take a look below and see what we’ve got available for you.

Hospice-based volunteering

Throughout each year we have a selection of dates available to volunteer at our Acorns hospices, which often involve gardening and maintenance of our hospice gardens between the months of April until October.

Due to demand and infection control needs, we have had to reduce the number of groups which we can host at our hospices, therefore this opportunity is now only available to businesses who are actively fundraising for Acorns or businesses who have named Acorns as their chosen charity partner.

Evening volunteering

Each year, we have the pleasure of being the nominated charity for a selection of black-tie events being hosted across the region which mainly happen outside of working hours between 6.00pm-11.00pm (approx.)

If your organisation welcomes out of hours volunteering we would love to hear from you!

At each of these events we often need an additional team of 8 volunteers to help us with our on the night fundraising activities, which can include raffles, auctions, gem box sales and more!

By choosing to dedicate your time to support us at an evening event, you are significantly helping us ensure we can maximise these opportunities to raise vital funds for your local children’s hospice.

Without events like this and the support of volunteers, Acorns would struggle to sustain the funds needed to support our essential services.

Pro tip!

This option is brilliant if your workplace offers matched funding, as you can help us double our fundraising and feel proud of the impact you’ve had after just one night of support!

Pro-bono/Skill-based volunteering

Often the most impactful volunteering you can support us with is a donation of your skills and expertise. We’d welcome a conversation with you to understand the key skills of your teams so we can harness this skillset to the benefit of Acorns.

Some examples of this include:

  • Supporting us in creating some new content for our social media
  • Leading learning and development training sessions
  • Providing feedback on our fundraising resources, marketing and approach
  • Helping us understand your sector by spending the day with us and network mapping

Acorns Superstore days

Throughout the year, we have a range of opportunities for corporate groups to volunteer in our Acorns Superstores, helping us keep them welcoming, well-stocked and ready for our customers.

Volunteers will be asked to bring along donations on the day. Everyone will receive a short briefing before the session begins, outlining the tasks and how your time will make a difference.

There are lots of practical jobs that help keep our Superstores running smoothly. Depending on the store’s needs, volunteers may be asked to steam donated items, sort, size and hang clothing, merchandise the shop floor, or support the team on the till.

Every moment of time gifted to Acorns is truly appreciated. By volunteering in one of our Superstores, you are directly supporting our ability to generate vital income for children and families using our hospice services.

If you want to find out more about Superstore volunteering or discuss opportunities, please get in touch.
