Hundreds dive into bubbles for a foam-tastic day of fundraising

Families and friends came together in their hundreds for a day of colour, fun and foam as they raced through billions of bubbles in support of Acorns Children’s Hospice.

The much-loved Bubble Rush returned to Walsall Arboretum on Sunday (20 July), bringing together nearly 700 participants who made their way through waves of brightly coloured bubbles.

Now a staple in the summer calendar, the frothy 5k was once again sponsored by award-winning law firm Talbots Law and raised vital funds for Acorns and its lifeline care for children with life limiting and life threatening conditions.

Sophie Boreham, Events Manager at Acorns, said: “What a spectacular day! It was amazing to see so many people hurtling through the foam with such energy and joy. The atmosphere really captured the spirit of Bubble Rush. Every step taken through the bubbly course helps us continue supporting families who rely on Acorns during unimaginably tough times.

“We’re incredibly grateful to every person who signed up, fundraised, volunteered or cheered from the sidelines. Your support helps us continue delivering our vital care every single day.”

Participants were showered in colour as bubble cannons lined the course, sending clouds of foam high into the air. After completing two loops of the Arboretum course, finishers were rewarded with a special commemorative medal.

The fun-filled day also featured live music, tasty treats, games and entertainment for all ages.

Sophie added: “As a charity, we rely on the support of the local community, with 72% of our funding coming from community donations and fundraising. That’s why events like Bubble Rush are so vital – they help us continue providing our lifeline care.

Acorns Children’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care for babies, children and young people with life limiting and life threatening conditions, and support for their families.

In the past year, the charity has cared for more than 780 children across the West Midlands, and supported over 1,000 families, including those who are bereaved. Children visit Acorns for rehabilitative respite, symptom management, emergency and end-of-life care.

This care and support is provided from Acorns three hospices, based in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester, and in the community.

Acorns needs around £35,000 each day to provide its children’s hospice care, with two thirds of that amount coming from generous donations and fundraising by the local community.
