How to use the Recite Me toolbar

The Recite Me toolbar gives you a range of tools to help make the Acorns website easier to read, listen to, translate and customise. This quick guide explains what the main features do and how to use them.

Opening the toolbar

To open the toolbar, select the Recite Me accessibility button. On the Acorns website, this button appears at the bottom left of the screen.

  • You do not need to download or install anything.
  • The toolbar can be used on desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
  • You can reset your settings at any time using the reset option.

Once opened, the toolbar appears across the page. You can use the buttons to listen to text, translate content, change how the page looks, use reading aids, focus on content and adjust your settings.

Text to speech

Listen to page content being read aloud. You can play, pause, go back or move forward through sections of text.

  • Use play to start reading text aloud.
  • Use back and forward to move between sections.

Translation

Translate website content into another language. Some translated content can also be read aloud using text to speech voices.

  • Open the language menu to choose a language.
  • Use play to listen to translated text where available.

Text styling and customisation

Change how the website looks to make content easier to read. You can adjust text size, fonts, spacing and colours.

  • Increase or decrease text size.
  • Change colours, fonts and spacing.

Focus tools

Use focus tools to reduce distractions and help concentrate on the part of the page you are reading.

  • Use the ruler or screen mask to focus on text.
