Acorns Care Education team ensures that all staff caring for children and supporting their families have the right skills to ensure safe and effective care.  This ranges from ensuring compliance with routine mandatory training such as fire and infection control to bespoke training to meet the clinical needs of individual children.

Care education at Acorns is offered through a range of media including face to face, virtual classrooms and e-learning delivered using internal expertise or by accessing a wide range of reputable and reliable external resources.  Much of the education material is developed in partnership with; other children’s hospices, NHS providers, Universities, other charities, and medical equipment company representatives.

We also have access to honorary contracts with NHS partners to access additional clinical skills experience with a child or young person where there are plans for them to access hospice for a longer-term placement.

Acorns is happy to share information regarding current care education packages and competencies.
